Throughout the years there have been many thought-provoking quotes shared. However, the most content interaction seems to come from the memes. As I’ve heard once said, “Memes are oversimplified truths.” Put this way, you can see why they seem to elicit such a response and why they can be so divisive. Never before have people had the power to so easily spread these “oversimplified truths.” All that to say, is that memes are an important medium to spread ideas and counter mainstream narratives. They may oversimplify highly nuanced topics or problems but they serve an important role in the current social media climate.
